Students

Every citizen, including foreign nationals, has the right to study at a Slovak higher education institution in the selected study programme if meeting required admission conditions. Students can study either a full study programme, or come for a short-term study.

A full study programmes are implemented at three levels: The study programme of first level includes the Bachelor's Degree; the second level includes the Master Degree study programme, Engineer's degree study programme and the Doctor's degree study programme. The Ph.D. Degree study programme is the third level study programme. A student comes as a self payer or as a scholar.

A short-term study is a study for 1 or 2 terms only. A student comes as a free mover, exchange programme student or scholar. Please find details on all categories below.

 

A full study programme (Bc, MA, PhD.)

  • SELF PAYER: A student is required to pay tuition fees at the host faculty. For more information on study programmes please contact the Faculty of your choice.
    Documents to be sent to the Faculty of your choice at the Comenius University are:
    • Foreign Student´s Application Form
    • Photocopy of the final secondary school diploma. The photocopy must be verified by a notary office or the issuing institution and its authorized translation to English or Slovak language.
    • Photocopy of the birth certificate. The photocopy must be verified by a notary office.
    • Photocopy of passport. The photocopy must be verified by a notary office.
    • 4 passport size photographs
    • Photocopy of Medical report. The photocopy must be verified by a notary office.
    Deadline for submission of completed application is 31st March.
  • SCHOLAR: For information on scholarships for accredited study programmes at public universities provided by the Ministry of Education of the Slovak Republic please refer to the websites www.scholarships.sk and www.minedu.sk (where the Application form for your studies can be downloaded).

 

A short-term study (1 – 2 terms)

  • FREE MOVER: A free mover comes to study for 1 or 2 terms. (S)he will most probably have to pay a tuition fee. For more information on study programmes please contact the Faculty of your choice.
    Documents to be sent to the Faculty of your choice at the Comenius University are:
  • EXCHANGE PROGRAMME STUDENT: If your University is affiliated to a network the Comenius University is a member of or if your home institution has a bilateral university exchange agreement with Comenius university, please contact the International Office at your home university and ask for details.
    Exchange programme student must send to the International Relations Office of Comenius University following documents:
  • SCHOLAR: In the framework of different programmes as CEEPUS, Visegrad Fund, National Scholarship Programme grants and Government scholarships are provided for 1 semester to the whole studies. For more information on CEEPUS, Visegrad Fund please contact the International Office at a home university or visit the web pages of the programmes. Please note that to get these scholarships you should meet specific conditions and criteria of respective programme, which may differ.

Important information for students who apply for a scholarship and request an acceptance letter from Comenius University:
When applying for a scholarship, all scholars requesting an acceptance letter from the Comenius University must submit to the Faculty of their choice the following documents:

  • Curriculum Vitae
  • motivation letter
  • transcript of records
  • recommendation letter

Please note that the Comenius University in Bratislava does not provide scholarships.
