The University of Warwick’s International Summer School is an exciting opportunity to spend three weeks in a rigorous programme of academic study on campus at a world class university combined with a varied social programme to help students explore the great diversity of British culture and heritage. The Summer School is aimed primarily at current undergraduates, preferably in their second year of study, with a strong academic background, currently working towards a 2:1 or above.
The International Summer School will offer two accredited courses, each a unique programme taught in a prestigious department, with guest lecturers and innovative teaching methods:
- Creative Writing
Participants will be hosted by the Institute of Advanced Teaching and Learning joining the acclaimed Warwick Writing Programme in order to develop their writing across three genres: screen writing, poetry and prose. Each week students will be introduced to practical techniques for writing in a particular genre. Our tutors are all professional, practicing writers, with experience of working in the creative industries. They will lead a series of workshops, master classes and one to one tutorials over the module. Students will also have a chance to participate in guest sessions with some of the Warwick Writing Programme's internationally renowned authors. The 2013 guest speakers will be announced on the web site in due course.
- Global Integrative Business
Warwick Business School will welcome participants to develop a critical understanding of selected major trends and issues in Global Business, increase their understanding of how global firms strategically analyse their business environment and aw well as an understanding of multi-disciplinary management. Sessions will be taught by distinguished staff from the WBS and guest speakers will give their insight into the world of global business.
Students will stay on campus and have access to excellent study and leisure facilities. The enjoyable social programme will enable students to discover the heart of England including the beautiful town of Stratford upon Avon, birthplace of Shakespeare, Oxford, and of course, London.
Participants completing the Summer School will receive a University of Warwick transcript and a Certificate of Attendance. We recommend each course carries the equivalent of 15 CATS, 5 US credits or 7.5 ECTS.
